CLASSIC SPRING TRANSITION LOOK

Classic transition pieces for Spring
So, let’s talk clothes. If I had to describe my fashion style, I would say I gravitate toward the clean, classic and timeless pieces. I also prefer casual style most days, though I do love to “dress up” on occasion. I don’t typically buy into trends, however, if I find one I like I may buy one or two pieces so I’m not stuck with a closet full of stuff that will look dated in a year. I am also a fan of dressing age-appropriate. I’m well north of my 30’s & 40’s, so you won’t see me in a cropped or low-rise anything, ever. There’s nothing more ridiculous than a woman my age dressing like her 17 year-old daughter. Am I right?!

Dressing in early Spring in the Chicago area can be tricky and frustrating. The sun may be shining, but it still could be quite cold out and by this time of year I am fed up with boots, sweaters and coats! The outfit I’ve pulled together here is a nice option for a Spring day, even if the weather isn’t cooperating. I have always been a fan of white pants (I know some people aren’t, but I find them to be versatile and clean-looking). White jeans are perfect for Spring since they are heavy enough to be warm but are a bright touch to your outfit. I also love pairing with a floral blouse. It definitely screams “Hey, it’s Spring!” Add a jean jacket and a pretty necklace and you are put together! I love these fun shoes with this outfit, but again, if it’s chilly out you can opt for a pair of classic flats instead.

So, no need to get frustrated during the Winter-Spring transition. If your closet has some solid, classic pieces it’s easy to mix and match. And don’t be afraid to experiment. Sometimes the “happy accidents” turn into the best outfits!

What are some of your go-to transition pieces? I’d love to hear!
