Creatively Repurpose Old Items
Now that we’re in the throws of nice weather, it’s finally time to go and buy all the flowers! I will admit, I’m not much of a green thumb so I’m realistic and only get a few choice flowers for the spring/summer seasons. This way they stand somewhat of a chance at survival! I wanted to get creative and think out of the (flower) box (see what I did there?!) as to how to display my flowers and here’s what I came up with…
Repurpose a vintage flea market find
I’m a bit of a flea market nerd and I usually have my eye out for specific things when I go. I wanted some sort of vintage wheelbarrow or wagon to use for my front yard fall décor a couple years back. I went to the Elkhorn flea market in Wisconsin and my first time there I was quite overwhelmed. It’s held at a fairground and let me tell you – it’s ginormous! They have four dates per year beginning in May and running through September. If you are in the area I highly recommend checking it out. Just make sure you have some good walking shoes! Anyway, I found this little gem there and snatched it right up.
Because it would be sitting outside and be exposed to rain I sealed it with a weather proofing spray for wood. Then I used a boot tray inside so I could water the flowers without removing them every time. I went to a local nursery and got 3 pots of flowers with the same color scheme, dropped them into the wagon and voila, cuteness!
There are so many creative things you can do by repurposing an item. I mean, just scroll through Pinterest and get creative overload! I also repurposed a couple of family heirloom chairs – read about that here. What are some creative ways you have repurposed things? Let me know in the comments!
