Stop Saving the Fine China and Other “Good” Stuff for Special Occasions
Ok, admit it, you’ve got “good” stuff that only sees the light of day on special occasions, if at all, right?! That’s what I thought.🙄 Well, today I’m here to tell you why you should break out the good stuff more often.
First, let’s define “good” stuff. It really varies from person to person but it’s anything you are saving that rarely (or never) gets used. Some of the things that come to mind are china, silver, crystal, jewelry, champagne, shoes…you get the gist. So, why are we saving these lovely things only to use them once in a while? Maybe it’s fear of breaking, ruining, or losing said things. Maybe they are tucked away so well it’s a bother to dig them out (umm, that would be me!🙋🏻). Whatever the reason, put it aside for the moment.
Now, imagine using your fine china and silverware for a typical Sunday family dinner. I know what you’re thinking…yeah, right! But seriously, think of how nice it would be to enjoy these things on a more regular basis. If having to hand-wash the china/silverware is holding you back, guess what–you can put this stuff in the dishwasher. I’ve done it and everything survived and came out beautifully clean. ✨ Now, I’m not recommending you set the kiddie table with the china, or wear great Aunt Claire’s sapphire ring to the gym, but if you loosen up just a bit with some of the fine things, you will enjoy and appreciate them all the more.
So, wear great grandma’s diamond earrings on date night or relax after work with a nice cup of tea from the china set. I truly believe there’s no point in having nice things if you never see or use them. Lose the fear and enjoy what you have. I promise, you won’t regret it. 🙌
